Outcomes Incorporated (Outcomes®) has released an innovative five-module series of videos focused on the Comprehensive Medication Review (CMR) service. Created to guide pharmacists through the successful completion of a face-to-face CMR, the videos provide step-by-step instructions and pharmacist-patient dialogue from the initial CMR offering through post-service follow-up.
The announcement was made during the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Annual Meeting and Exposition in New Orleans.
"With the increasing importance of the CMR, especially within Medicare Part D, we believe it is important to provide the over 55,000 local pharmacists in the Outcomes MTM network with another CMR resource," said Dan Rodriguez, Outcomes Director of Provider Services. "The videos are intended to help pharmacists who are new to MTM as well as pharmacists who have provided hundreds of services over the years in Outcomes MTM programs."
The videos can be accessed online at: http://www.youtube.com/user/getoutcomes/featured or http://vimeo.com/channels/outcomes.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced the "Completion Rate for Comprehensive Medication Review" will be a display quality measure for plans in 2013, in anticipation of becoming a STAR Ratings measurement used to rank and bonus high-performing plans in 2014.
In preparation for this change, Outcomes has made a number of enhancements to its program designed to drive the CMR completion rate for contracted plans, including the CMR videos. The CMR Completion STAR Rating in 2014 will be based on performance in 2012.
