The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) has announced Matthew C. Osterhaus, BSPharm, FASCP, FAPhA, has been elected to the office of APhA president. Osterhaus will serve as the 2013-2014 president-elect before being installed as president at the conclusion of the APhA Annual Meeting & Exposition in Orlando on March 31, 2014.
Osterhaus has served as a member of the Outcomes Incorporated Board of Directors since co-founding the company in 1999.
"Matt has provided outstanding leadership to Outcomes for more than 13 years, a period during which Outcomes has grown from an idea to the company it is today-providing face-to-face Medication Therapy Management (MTM) coverage to more than five million patients via a network of more than 60,000 local pharmacists across the U.S.," said Outcomes Chief Executive Officer Tom Halterman, RPh. "I am certain Matt's term as APhA president will be marked by the same steady leadership he has provided to Outcomes over the years."
Osterhaus is a community and consultant pharmacist who co-owns and operates Osterhaus Pharmacy in Maquoketa, Iowa. He is an APhA trustee, serving on the Finance and Government Affairs Committees. Osterhaus served on the Iowa Medicaid Drug Utilization Review Commission, the Iowa Board of Pharmacy Examiners and the Iowa Medicaid Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and is also a past president of the Iowa Pharmacy Association. In addition to the Outcomes Board of Directors, Osterhaus serves on the Pharmacists Mutual Insurance Company's Board of Directors.
